From the beginning, the FNEC has been committed to involving parents in their children\u2019s learning path. But in 2009, the FNEC received a clear request from parents to make parental involvement a priority for the FNEC and its member communities.<\/strong><\/p>\n 2009 \u2013<\/strong> At the 19th <\/sup>annual First Nations Education Conference, parents express an interest in finding ways to improve parental involvement and support their children in school.<\/p>\n 2013 \u2013<\/strong> A working committee, composed of education experts from the FNEC and its member communities, is created with the mandate to study the issue and develop standards for parental and community involvement.<\/p>\n 2014 \u2013<\/strong> First Nations governance standards for parental involvement are approved in assembly.<\/p>\n 2015 \u2013<\/strong> The \u201cI\u2019m Involved!\u201d campaign is launched to raise awareness about parental and community involvement. The main objective of the campaign is to make parental and community involvement a priority in FNEC communities by placing value on children, the role of parents, volunteering, school and the people who work there, as well as the different ways children learn.<\/p>\n Today \u2013<\/strong> Whether it is to offer training, parent-child activities or support for the establishment of parental participation structures, to create awareness-raising tools, or respond to any other request for parental involvement support, the FNEC continues its efforts to help its member communities create a welcoming and caring environment for children.<\/p>\n
