Educational Services

Good news for parents, grandparents, guardians, and anyone else with children in their care! The Growing Together series of courses will be offered on a monthly basis this year!

We love our children, and we do everything we can to help them succeed. But it is not always easy! We all need a helping hand once and a while. These one-hour online courses show participants what goes on behind the scenes in terms of child behaviours, and gives them ideas on how to handle these behaviours. Several topics will be addressed including handling temper tantrums, co-parenting, anxiety, and how caring and attachment can help our children develop and grow. Participants will also have the chance to win best-selling books in our door-prize draw!

Spread the word! Courses start in September!

KIUNA

New satellite classroom in the Atikamekw community of Wemotaci

Kiuna Institution, the only First Nations post-secondary institution in Quebec, opened its very first satellite classroom in the Atikamekw community of Wemotaci on August 15, giving local students access to a college classroom made just for them.

One of the main goals of this project is to create a distance learning environment in First Nations communities that will enable students to get a post-secondary education while they continue contributing to community development.

Students using this new high-tech satellite classroom have access to the same services as their peers attending Kiuna Institution located in Odanak, an Abenaki community in the Centre-du-Québec region.

To promote student retention and success, Kiuna staff members are on site providing student support, creating a classroom community, fostering school spirit, and making meaningful connections with students.

This project has been made possible through funding from Indigenous Services Canada.
